Duck Tacos

I guess we are foodies. We try to eat the freshest, cleanest, and the most non-processed food. We also try to find different food. Tastes we have yet to explore. So, when we heard about a place in the city that served duck confit tacos, well we just had to go.

It was a tiny neighborhood place – seated 19 – and was charming. Two tacos for $8.00. Pricey for the area. Worth every dime. These were cantina-style tacos: soft corn tortillas served with lime wedges. Also, upon arrival fresh tortilla chips and homemade salsa appeared. One was red, dense and full of flavor, another was orange sweet and semi-hot and the green one was extra hot. Unusual. Delightful.

The duck taco was a surprise. Besides the large pieces of succulent duck confit, it also had carrots, which gave it a different type of sweetness against the rich duck. We are not sure what else was in them but there was no cilantro. It almost tasted more Asian in its spices.

We glanced over at the next table and Michael spotted a quesadilla. It was huge and about $10.00. The amount of avocado and sour cream served on the side was ridiculous. It was filled with olives and cheese and some kind of meat.

I have a feeling we are going to have to return for him to try one but I’ll stick with the tacos. Amazing.
