Little Brother Turns 58-Years Old

Mom was so happy to have two of her three children with her for a few hours yesterday. We met at her house, I left them to chat while I grabbed Michael from work before we all drove to the restaurant. We had such a marvelous, easy time chatting together. The food was fantastic and perfect for the event. Chip loved his present of a jigsaw puzzle but the hit of the night was a small plastic bird caller I also bought at the toy store. He ripped it open, blew and nothing. With a quick glance at the back of the packaging, he plunged it into his water glass then blew again. It was a fantastic bird whistle! All for $2.00!

His wife Betty is struggling with her mom and trying to insure that she is in a safe environment. She will be dealing with the banking issues today, without a lot of support from her 94-year old mean, blind, slightly demented mother. The mom keeps giving her SSI number and banking account numbers to strangers on the phone. Suddenly, the accounts are emptied. It has been a rough couple of days, so much so that Betty had a rare cocktail last night.

Me? I am doing nothing this morning except a walk along the ocean. And a nap. I want to slow down and take some down time before orchestra rehearsal tonight. The next few weeks are going to be a challenge and I really don't want to get sick. It is expected to be a sunny 65 degrees here today so I may take a book into the garden later this afternoon.
