We stayed over the pass far longer than expected but the tourists stayed home yesterday! It was no problem driving home around 3PM. Earlier, we ran our errands, I had a chat with mom while Michael talked with his friend regarding a car, we stopped to get an iced tea then began to drive home when he realized that we were close to Mark and Marianne's house.
They are the couple who hosted the recent graduation party and, after a phone call, we dropped by. We learned they were planning to drive their daughter to college at 5AM this morning. Mark sells watches. Expensive watches. Michael had broken his, Mark had it fixed and it was ready for pickup. So, we dropped by, had a nice chat before we learned OUR SON IS COMING ON THURSDAY. He and Mark have been doing business together so we brought his new watch home with us. It is a beauty. We knew he was planning to be here this coming week, just didn't know when. Funny to hear it from a friend!
I am so happy that the house and my to-do list is almost finished except for the carpets being cleaned. And the trumpet vines still needing to be removed. And the water pressure valve still barks. I did leave a message on the plumber's phone that we were having company on Thursday and asked if the valve could be repaired beforehand. We will see. If nothing happens, we will have another plumber install a whole new valve and chalk it up to a bad experience. Two months to repair a bad pressure valve. Not good.
What I did notice driving over the pass yesterday were the pumpkins in the fields. We are the pumpkin capital of the area, some of the pumpkin patches opened this weekend for the first time and fall has arrived. It really is my favorite time of year.
