Feeling Up Then...

Interior and exterior painting on house is done, the carpets have been reattached to the walls in two bedrooms, furniture has been set back into place, the love seat has found a new home with one of the house painters and the yard has been put back together. The windows have yet to be washed as I want to make sure the paint is totally dry. The yards will be cut and watered today.

Remaining issues: carpets to be cleaned in two weeks and the plumber. Ah, the plumber. He replaced the pressure valve and it has been "barking" every time water is on. I phoned. I waited. I phoned again. I phoned again. He ordered a repair kit. He received the repair kit almost a month ago. Nothing. I phone again. He said he is tired and busy but would try to come by. That was three weeks ago. On Monday, I will be phoning him to let him know that we will be hiring another plumber to install a new, properly working pressure valve.

Yesterday was sheer madness. I was in the car at 6:20AM and driving into the city to see the nutritionist. I had lost almost three pounds since our last appointment three weeks ago. Nice. I fought through traffic to visit the butcher before grabbing mom. We ran to Trader Joe's for groceries, returned something for her at Best Buy, flew over the pass, dropped the groceries off, hit Safeway, drove through McDonald's and had lunch at home while waiting for the carpet guy, who was going to reattached the carpets in the two bedrooms.

He came. Done.

We played cards, made a really nice dinner of green beans, cole slaw and medallions of pork. Mom and Michael were sitting outside near the fountain, I called them in for dinner when...she fell. She fell hard. She went to reach for the slider, missed which threw her off balance, she stumbled backwards and BOOM. Down.

We stayed with her for several hours afterwards and really felt she was fine but was going to be sore. We also made her promise to phone us if she was in any pain or felt sick during the night. She just phoned this morning to tell us that the only damage seemed to be to her elbows and her tailbone. And her dignity. She was so embarrassed and felt she ruined the evening. We are just so relieved that she seems to have suffered minimal damage.

After the yard work, the goal is to take it easy this weekend. We are even planning a drive down the coast on Sunday morning.
