Busy Sunday

The drive across the new Bay Bridge was...foggy. We couldn't see anything! Funny! There was a weird sensation driving north because the old section south of Treasure Island was still old. Two levels. We were heading north on the lower level surrounded by steel girders, a low ceiling of steel and high steel railings. Suddenly, we came out of the Treasure Island tunnel into the open on the new span. It felt weird but it was nice to have just the sky above us. Also, the sides of the new span of the bridge have low railings. It felt almost dangerous!

We arrived early to our meeting spot near Sacramento, sat around at a Starbucks until the guy arrived to take us to his car. We followed him to a storage area to see his 1953 Chevy Coupe with a 700+ horsepower engine with a blower chopped through the hood. Michael gave him many suggestions and ideas and he seemed very happy with all of them!

We jumped back into the car and decided to hit the Bay Bridge again, as maybe the fog had lifted! The traffic was not too bad and we really enjoyed the new views of the city from the new span. But, it was still so foggy along the coast that we couldn't see the Golden Gate Bridge.

After getting home, I zoomed into action. One guest room needed to have the sheets washed and ironed for Lee and Jeff's visit in a week. Done. I ironed the table runner and placemats they gave us from their trip to Italy. It will look fantastic on the new outdoor table they are bring to us. We also removed both TVs from the guest rooms. I had cancelled the boxes with DirecTV two weeks ago so they were no longer working. We are donating them today. So, I rearranged the furniture in both rooms, took a steam iron to the deep pits in the carpet (the carpet popped right up), we watched a taping of The Americans on FX before I made a killer dinner. We had cheese and bacon stuffed chicken, asparagus and some buttered noodles for Michael.

It is an exciting day today. Mom and I are going out to lunch for the first time since late January. Fish! Perfect for my diet. I also want to buy a hurricane lamp and candle for the new outdoor table and mom spotted cute T-shirts at Lands End (in Sears) so we are going to check them out before our lunch together. It will be a celebration. I never cheated on the diet. Not one taste, not one finger licked. It is going to be a fun day together.
