Changes are happening. Roy, our neighbor whose wife died a few months ago, knocked on our door last weekend. He said that it has been too difficult walking into the empty house filled with so many memories. He is going to sell it.
It is the same style as ours and in the far corner of the cul-de-sac. It has a new kitchen and even a putting green. He is an excellent golfer so he is looking at properties on golf courses.
We have dear friends we have known since our boys went to kindergarten together and are also our current book club hosts. Jim retired, took classes in real estate and has been a broker for years. He loves it and has sold a ton of homes in this horrible market. He knows how to close a deal.
Roy asked if we knew any good real estate people and we gave him Jim number. They have met. I haven’t heard if he was hired. I hope so. He is good.
I did ask what Roy was expecting to get for the house. We live in a very unique neighborhood with no sidewalks and windy streets. Quaint. Our contemporary homes range from 3 bedrooms/2 baths to 5 bedrooms/3 baths. Ours is the smallest model but even in this market, we did not lose the same percentage of value as in other areas. It is a very desirable neighborhood, which rarely has homes for sale.
Roy thinks it is worth between $800,000 – $850,000
I hope he is right but that seems a bit high for today’s market. We’ll see.
