It has been a sweet few days together. As our time grow shorter, our anniversary becomes even dearer. It is a reminder on the calendar to stop and think about us for the day. We looked backwards then we looked forward. We made plans. We reminded ourselves that we have had a great life together.
We planned the day. It was to be a normal of day rehab and work but we looked forward to spending the evening together.
We went to Town in San Carlos for dinner, split a surf and turf and had a lovely time. When I made the reservation, I made note that it was our anniversary. When we arrived, they had this printed on the top of the menu: Happy 37th Wedding Anniversary!!! So sweet.
Mark and Marianne had given Michael a gift certificate from there as thanks for rescuing them from Oregon. We thought our anniversary was a perfect time to use it.
Great menu. Great wine list. Great cocktails.
Michael worked his way through a cocktail named Bulleit Bourbon Back made with Bulleit bourbon, unsweetened iced tea, fresh lemon juice, Luxanrdo Maraschino liqueur, and served in a frozen whiskey glass. He had two. They were smooth!
We had the perfect waiter – a drumming graduate from Berklee School of Music in Boston - and chatted with the wonderful manager. He posted a VIP notice by our name because “we were cool.” HA!
We left, rolled down all of the windows in the car, drove home from 85 degrees weather to the coast where it was a perfect 65. We sat outside in the new yard, watched the stars come out while listening to the end of the Giants game. They won.
We talked so much about our memories. We laughed at all the things that did not exist when we got married: laptops, CDs, ATMs, cell phones, good coffee, TV cable, exotic food more available everywhere, cable news and others that I can not remember!
We also realized that our 50th is only thirteen years away. Only. I so hope to make it. We made a vow to celebrate it with or without the other.
William phoned from the road in Nashville and left an interesting message. A lot is going on in his life. We have a lot of catching up to do!
