USS Hornet, Menus and Hot August Nights

I am shopping today for food after my appointment with Dr. M. to discuss the downturn of all my blood tests and breathing. It will interesting to hear his take on the matter.

My food recipes, for those of us on prednisone, seem very popular so I thought I would feature this week's menu and recipes in today's blog. We can't process sugars properly so no milk, no yogurt, no starchy vegetables, no grains, no carbs. Again, watch the serving portions.

The Crustless Quiche variation will be wild mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and onion.

I am also serving side vegetables of baby broccoli, artichokes or an heirloom tomato salad throughout the week.

Mom and I enjoyed our tour of the USS Hornet with Barbara and her day care kids yesterday. Once again, the docent mentioned to us how wonderful her children were and he was a retired principal! They are a joy to be around. It was a big ship with lots of stairs and so very interesting. It was the aircraft carrier that recovered the capsule of astronauts after the first walk on the moon. The actual capsule, helicopter and isolation trailer were also on display. This ship was involved in major conflicts in WWII including the battle of the Midway. I feel we just got a small taste of what the entire ship had to offer. We must plan a return trip!

Michael leaves this morning for a few days in Reno and Hot August Nights. Wayne is going to do the driving this year. His wife Jill's birthday is Sunday and she has invited a bunch of her girlfriends to a morning birthday walk before our husbands arrive home. I hope Michael is able to relax, have fun, see lots of friends, eat well, sleep well, see lots of cars, eat lots of ice cream and just have a good time.
