Happy 4th of July. Freedom. In yesterday's rehab class, my friend Gene mentioned that he felt so lucky to have been raised in this country. His parents emigrated from Ireland when he was a child, his father began a business as a tailor on the Avenue in a rather expensive area then called all the people in the phone book with his last name to announce he had just arrived and was in business. Gene just retired from this business, which is now the largest manufacture of uniforms in the country. That is just one American story.
We are all so lucky to be here and to be able to celebrate all of our freedoms.
Michael and I will be grinning like kids while watching the parade. Two cars he painted will be featuring local dignitaries. Friends will be marching with their children on decorated bikes and wagons. The local sit-down-marching band will be playing in the center of town before, during and after the parade. Horses will be beautifully presented just before the fire department brings up the rear. A real small town parade.
It is cool and foggy here but hopefully the sun will break through around parade time. We are going to lunch with friends afterwards. No fireworks for us tonight. Too foggy.
Happy 4th!
