A successful weekend! Shelley and Russ arrived on Saturday later than they expected but it was perfect timing for lunch! They loved the Open-Faced Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, which were baked to a melty, cheesy top over a crispy bottom of French bread. We served sliced strawberries and a Caesar Salad before bring out the gorgeous Fruit and Cheese Pizza.
After lunch we sat outside in the garden though the sun would shine for a bit before being overcome by fog. As it was going to reach 100 degrees where they live, Shelley and Russ even appreciated the fog! William has been out on tour with a new group since April and they performed on a TV show last week, so we showed them a few minutes of their performance. No William sightings as he is always at the back of the crowd working his magic with the sound.
For dinner, we took them to the seafood place right on the harbor and we were shocked that it was not packed! Yes, it was crowded but we expected it to be so much busier on a Saturday. We had a lovely window seat and they loved the food.
We all slept like babies!
In the morning, I offered yogurt, cottage cheese, strawberries, fruit and cheese pizza and Scotch eggs. Everyone helped themselves. Chat, chat, chat while the Formula 1 race played in the background, they took off after 9:00 to my mom's house for a quick visit before driving home.
It was lovely that these two spent a precious weekend with us, with no holiday involved. Just the four of us.
