I haven't seen much of my husband. He is trying to hit a deadline of Wednesday for a car to be finished for a show this weekend. Lots of hours. The good news is that he will be able to spend lots of time with his sister during her visit next week.
Anna is a very low maintenance house guest. Doesn't want anything fussy or extravagant. The plan? Michael will BBQ dinner on her first night. Prime cut steaks with artichokes. Oh, and cocktails in the garden. Wednesday will find us walking along the ocean trail for crab sandwiches for lunch then up into the mountains for cocktails and appetizers for dinner. Oysters Rockefeller. Thursday, I have an appointment with my totally cool jazz pianist glaucoma specialist for a checkup. Afterwards, we will go to mom's so Anna can see her apartment then all three of us will head to lunch on the Avenue. Dinner that night will be at our favorite dive just south of town. The best fresh seafood. Please note: I am cooking nothing. Zero. No work. No stress.
Anna's son and husband leave this morning for their European adventure in celebration of his high school graduation. This trip should change his life. Our William's first trip to Europe was when he was 16-years old. It changed his life. He came home a different person. There was no stopping him. He was gone. He is in Switzerland today. France tomorrow.
I hope this trip strongly influences Anna's son to see beyond his neighborhood, his city, his state and his country. Absorb everything. Realize so much is happening in the world that doesn't make the US nightly news. Grow. Learn.
