Perfect Weekend

Oops, summer is gone. Cool weather today on the coast and throughout the weekend with a chance of rain next week. I wore shorts for the first time yesterday but will now leave them in the closet for another few weeks!

There is a new guy in the rehab class. He is only 43-years old and has a very strange liver disease that kicked in an ILD. A double whammy. There is very high pressure in the major veins of the liver causing it to fail. He is being prepared for a liver transplant soon. What I find so odd is that once he is transplanted, the ILD will go away. Yup, read that again. How can that be? The ILD appears advanced as he currently needs 12 liters of oxygen to do a slow workout. He is one sick guy. I noticed that he is beginning to make some friends in rehab, talking to more people and feeling more at home. The last couple of weeks, he would come in, do the workout and leave. Not a word. I hope he can feel all of our support.

Mom is very excited. She LOVES to play slot machine but all the casinos are not as close as they were at her old home. She doesn't get much of a chance to play. About a year ago, we went to a rather new one north of us and had a ball. Well, we are planning to go again on Monday before her surgery to lift her eye lids on Tuesday. Afterwards, she will be bruised and not going anywhere for a couple of weeks.

Me? A quiet weekend ahead. Yards on Saturday. Hanging with Michael on Sunday. Sounds just about perfect.
